One of the biggest false doctrines that is taught by many pulpits in the cog (and believed by many) pertains to the “leaven” that the “wave loaves” which represent the church, are baked with.
(Leviticus 23:17).
“Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.”
They say the Wave Loaves (the church) is baked with leaven, because the brethren (the church) is full of sinners.
Brethren, nothing could be further from the truth.
Leaven doesn’t always represent sin in the Bible. There is also a good leaven spoken of in the Scriptures. It’s in (Matthew 13:33).
“Another parable spake He unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven” You cannot say the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto sin. God’s Kingdom will have no sin.
Before anyone can enter God’s Kingdom, they must have a changed nature. Sinners will not be allowed to enter into God’s Kingdom.
(1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
(Galatians 5:19-21)
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
We humans come into this world with a sinful nature. But before anyone can be changed from a human being, and into a spirit being, and allowed to enter into His Kingdom, one must have a changed nature first. Changed from sinful nature, to God’s Holy Righteous Character. Now the process that our Creator has given us to accomplish this change is shown in (Matthew 13:33):
“Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven (God’s Spirit)which a woman (the church) took. That word “took” is the same Greek word Peter used in (Acts 2:38) where its translated “received.”
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall “receive” the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
and hid (incorporated)in three measures of meal, till the whole (The whole church) was leavened.”
Now God always gives us the physical (which we humans understand quite well) so we can better understand the Spiritual (which we humans do not understand quite so well.) So, let’s make some bread, some leavened bread, like the “wave loaves” are baked with. The making of this physical bread shows us exactly how our sinful natures can be changed into His Holy Righteous Character.
First the baker adds all the ingredients, the flour, the salt, and the leaven. And then the baker begins to knead the dough with the palm of his hands, and His fingers. And after a while, the dough begins to rise. Now we know what is making the dough rise, it’s the leaven. But do we realize what the leaven is doing to the dough that’s making it rise? The leaven is changing the nature of the dough. The only thing powerful enough to change our sinful nature, is His Power Holy Spirit living in us.
Now let’s continue making this bread. As the dough begins to rise up, the baker beats it back down. It begins to rise up again, and again it is beaten back down. Changing one’s nature is a process. The kneading and the beating of the dough, pictures the trials and tribulations we go through as our Creator works with us. Now once the baker gets the dough just the way He wants it, He bakes it. Once its baked, it’s then a finished product, and its nature cannot be changed. That’s why God beings cannot sin, their Righteous Character cannot be changed. If we were baked with a sinful nature, we would always have a sinful nature.
Brethren, no one can enter God’s Kingdom with a sinful nature. One has to have a changed nature first, changed from “sinful” to “Holy”. And the only thing Powerful enough to change our sinful nature, is His Powerful Holy Spirit working in us. That’s why our Lord told Nicodemus that no one can enter God’s Kingdom unless they are both baptized, and have God’s Spirit in them.
(John 3:5)’
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water (baptism) and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
That’s why (Leviticus 23:15-16) tells us that the “completion” of the count to Pentecost comes before the baking.
“And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days.
That word “complete” in Leviticus 23:15 is Strong’s # H8549 without blemish – without spot. That word is normally used only when speaking of our Lord, like in (Exodus 12:15) and (Numbers 19:2). But in (Leviticus 23:15) it’s speaking of His church, His First Fruits. They are to be without spot or blemish. Yes, perfect, just like our Lord. And notice they are to be in this spotless condition before they are bake, before day “fifty” the day they are waved.
We can also clearly see this in (1 Kings 6:7) That the church (His First Fruits) have to be complete (made Perfect) at the quarry (right down here on planet earth) before they are brought “thither” (over to the other side.) Before entering into God’s Kingdom.
(1 Kings 6:7)
“And the house (the church) when it was in building, was built of stone (the members) made ready (complete – perfect) before it was brought thither (to the other side – His Kingdom) so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.”
Brethren, don’t believe those who say perfection doesn’t come until our change from flesh and blood to spirit. There is no magic wand at the end of the day that will instantaneously create His Holy Righteous Character in us. It’s a process. And it takes time. There is no magic wand in the tool shed of (1 Kings 6:7). But there is an “axe”. And axes are used for destruction.
If we have been given His Powerful Holy Spirit at baptism and hands, then we need to use that Powerful Spirit of His and overcome the ways of this world, and become Holy. How Holy? As Holy as He (our Lord) is Holy. Like we are told in:
(1 John 3:3)
“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.”
We are living at the end of this evil age brethren, a time when many like to hear smooth things, and fables.
(2 Timothy 4:3-4)
“For the time will come (has come) when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
Yes, we are living at the time when the way of Truth is evil spoken of.
(2 Peter 2:2).
“And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be (is) evil spoken of”
Brethren, of and by ourselves we cannot achieve “perfection” (which by the way is Strong’s #G5046 meaning full age – full growth – complete in mental and moral character.) No, we cannot achieve perfection by ourselves. BUT we are not by ourselves IF we have His Powerful Holy Spirit (the leaven of Matthew 13:33) living in us. Let us use that Power of His and overcome this evil world in which we are living. And let us use caution here. If our High Calling has shifted to the back burner of our lives, let us move it back to the front burner, before it’s too late. we are sojourners down here on this planet. And besides,friendship to the world, is hostility – hatred – enmity to our Creator. (James 4:4).

There is an article titled “False Teaching Exposed” that clearly shows the cog community’s stand on the issue of whether one can “overcome” while still in the flesh. They say that overcoming cannot be achieved while in the flesh, and that our Lord and Savior does not even expect us to overcome, but only requires us to be “trying” to overcome. That’s hogwash brethren. That’s a false teaching, the kind that calls for some anointing, with some of that Laodicean eyesalve. (Revelation 3:18). The link is below:
