Kenya Updates

November 28, 2023

Greetings Brethren,

First let me thank you for your quick response to the letter we sent out on Thursday November 9th concerning our brethrens “difficult times”. Thanks to your response we were able to send relief to all the orphans and widows, and also assist more of our impoverished brethren. The two orphans who were hospitalized for starvation are now home and doing much better.

Pictured below are the children of the Itongo church group. Nehemiah visited them on Sabbath November 11th, (As he resumed his “Nehemiah’s Daily Bread” mission.) He brought them some food, and a Bible study. After seeing their condition, he returned the following day (thanks to your donations) with additional food, clothes, soaps and other supplies.

Itongo children with their new (used) clothes and foot wear.

We buy “use” clothing four two reasons, 1, we are caring for 50 church orphans, and the cost for new can really add up. And 2, the quality of the used is much better than that of the new. Most goods in Kenya are imported from China, and are Very poor quality compared to goods imported from China into the United States. The used cloches come from various Countries, and the quality is much better, and oftentimes name brands.

Nehemiah distributing maize

They all went home with clothes, soap for washing their body, soap for washing their clothes, and maize for making ugali (their staple food). Beans will be distributed tomorrow when we send food to the rest of the orphans and widows in need.

The following pictures were taken at the Bible study, before your “difficult times” donations were received. As you can see the children were in sad condition.

Eating lunch at Nehemiah’s “Daily Bread Mission”.

Even after eating the food Nehemiah brought, some were still hungry; the three pictured below were licking the pot which was used to cook the food.

The same three after receiving the supplies of soap & clothes etc.

Brethren your donations continue to make a Hugh impact on our orphans, widows, and impoverished brethren. May our Heavenly Father bless you abundantly. The fifty orphans and twelve widows’ thank you from the bottom of their heart.

Pictured below are of the toilet construction for the Getionko congregation. This is the first time this congregation will have a toilet at their meeting hall. The construction is now completed.

The two stalls on the right are Men’s & Ladies toilets, the left is for showering.

Once again, we thank you for continuing to support our widows, orphans
and impoverished brethren. Your donations are easing their suffering. I’ve been
coming to Kenya since 2005, and have “never” seen conditions like this.
When
visiting Getionko group last Sabbath November 25th, three
Mothers asked me for help after service. They said they were going home to
empty houses (no food) I was able to help them a little. During services I
received a text from Nehemiah, he was visiting the Rigo church and was also
asking help for them (They are the group where a widow and her daughter died
recently from starvation) He told me that others there right now are also going
without food. I told him we would talk when we get back home and discuss who we
could help with the funds we have. After returning home, I received a call from
Timothy (Timothy is one of our orphans who went home to visit his Grandpa now
that school is closed between semesters) He too was asking for help. He said him
and Grandpa have no food and have been sleeping hungry.

Our Kenyan brethren are really suffering from hunger, so please continue to assist them during these very difficult times.
